I am having trouble with my 305 when i have any kind of load on it (welding or grinding) it doesn't affect the puddle when your welding, and runs fine on low ideal.  It runs really rough like its running rich i can get a wiff of fuel and it seems get bad then better then bad again and all with in a couple of minutes. every once and a while it will run normal for awhile then out of know where run like crap again. please help if you can i would rather not have to unload my skid to take it in if i can avoid it.Thanks
Reply:I don't know if a 305g is gas or diesel, but if its carbuerated gas, it could be the float in carb is sticking.    You say it doesn't do it at low idle or when welding a puddle, well maybe it consumes enough fuel to keep the bowl low or at idle maybe the vibration is enough to keep the float from sticking.     You say it does it off and on in the coase of 1 min, well maybe the float sticking pops up or breaks free when its over submerged in gas, it then seats the needle to shut fuel off, then when bowl level lowers the cycle starts over again.    I've got a wisc motor that does much of the same thing your desribing.   When I rebuilt the carb, I reset the float height, when I reset height , I must have tweaked it to the side a little, and now the float gets hung up on the side of the bowl.    Old gas or letting it sit to long may have caused your problem.      Before you tear into the thing, try dumping some Berryman carb cleaner into the fuel tank.    It'll probally clean your carb and everything else out pretty good.   Make sure it's Beryyman, I haven't had any luck w/ other brands.    Make sure its the type you dump in fuel tank, it usually comes in a pint size or gallon can w/ a screw on lid.    It'll say to use one ounce per gallon, but I think thats meant for preventive maintnance.   I usually go 4 ounces per gal of gas.   Make sure you change your fuel filt/screen or sedimant bowl before, or the cleaner might break all that dirt up and send it into your carb.     Once again I don't know if your machine is gas or deisel, so this only applies if its gas carbuerated.
Reply:How long since a tune up has been done on the Engine?I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
