Decided it was time to patch up a furnace that had rusted out the stack on one side and and the capped exit on the other. I think rain water got into the stack and rusted it out. Fairly simple job that I had put off all summer because I don't have a slip roll. The weather has been great but I'm sure it will be getting cold soon enough. Figured I better fix this, so armed with a tape measure I hunted around the farm for some tube and wouldn't you know it... I found some 10 inch auger tube what is actually only about a 1/2" over. So slice and dice with the cut-off wheel on the grinder and I had the exit pipes sleeved. I then cut some 2 inch wide bands to bring the diameter back to the full size. Welded up with some 3/32 6013 which turned out to be easy once I get the welder pulled around the farm. The welder was a job in itself. I had to jump start the trailblazer. Man the battery sure a pain to get to on the trailblazer! Is there an auxiliary post someplace for jumping without pulling the battery or am I the only guy that has ever had a flat battery? The battery wasn't factory... it was a tad taller which required loosing the front shroud to get it out.  After the welder was running... I had to pull start the service truck. Quite a bit if work for a couple small rods. Where the 120V welder when you need it.  Here's a few photos. I didn't take any pics of the slice and dice... didn't really think about it. Basically, I just wrapped the hose clamp around the pipe and followed it with the cut-off wheel. A couple 5.5" pieces and a couple 2" pieces.

Reply:Nice repair Randy. Be advised on "jumping" a Trailblazer with a vehicle or charger.  I've lost count of how many guys have done so and then immediately the unit won't weld and/or produce auxiliary power.  Jumping a Trailblazer likes to take out the Power Board and/or the Main Control Board.  Charging with a charger or jumper cables is OK with the battery connected as long as you don't try starting the unit with the charger on or the jumper cables hooked up.Sounds like it's time for a couple new batteries before cold weather really sets in.
