I have been looking at this welder for sale near me and was curious if anyone has used or owns one of these. The hour meter has been changed so not sure of the hours. Has a Duetz motor and has been load banked and builds air good. The price will be around 4000 grand. Has some new parts pc boards, fine current adjustment, starter. Any input would be good. I have a classic III on my rig and have an older Miller Trailblazer 55D that I was going to put on a trailer with a new air compressor but wonder if one package would be better. My 55D is in good shape except for the faceplate. If I buy a new standalone compressor I will be in it the same as buying this 89 air pack
Reply:thats a decent price. but i would be nervous on the unknown hoursVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:I agree especially with the compressor option. I know that deutz motor will last a long time and the brushes and armature looked good according to the tech that worked on it. I go see it wednesday.
Reply:I will warn you they are a stone cold B@#)H to work on. Theres a ton of crap packed into a 5lb sack. I would bring cash and see if they would take 35 $100 billsVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:" deutz motor "Expensive, hard to get parts for. Very good motors but be aware.Lincoln uses them also, on their desert duty machines.A reasonable amount of hours for a welder only that old would be 6000 to 7500 hours, run as air compressor ???? but I am sure is a couple of thousand min on top of the above. In a perfect world I would want to see the injectors and pump condition, and the condition of the main bearings ( I know not possible ).If possible see if you can get a service record history ( oil changes ) that can give you an indication of the bottom end condition. An air compressor and welder would rock BTW, I know why your interested. |
