I have an SAF-300 with F162 engine that was left outside with the exhaust uncovered for a couple years.  As you can imagine the cylinders are rusted and the engine needs to be bored to bring back to life.  It was working well but had a miss before it was parked.  The covers are banged up but underneath it looks pretty good and clean.  I can tell it was well maintained prior to being left out. Before I spend this effort I wanted to see what this puppy is worth.    There are many SA-200 but not too many of this model.  I will include pictures, let me know what you think. Thanks,Sam Last edited by svd_add; 06-26-2009 at 09:20 AM.

Reply:one more thing... does anyone know what year this is?  Code 6095.
Reply:You will need the serial numbers to find the year manufactured. Go to Lincoln's website and do a search for the manuals, etc. you'll need to figure out what you have and the uses, and you should be able to find a date with the serial #.  http://www.lincolnelectric.com/Interesting machine, I don't think I've ever seen one exactly like it. Good luck.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:Thats some serious rust pitting in that bore. Its questionable whether or not it can be bored enough to eliminate that! I winder if it can be sleeved!#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:I can bore up to .060"  I think that will cover the one spot.  However the other two pistons are stuck up and I am afraid of what I will find when I break them loose.
Reply:I got the manuals from the Lincoln website and it says November 1973 on them... so it must be close to that age.

Reply:Well if it was a 1965 then we would be the same age I am contemplating pulling the motor.... however, I will try to drop the pan and remove the pistons first.  I can get a dial gauge to see how deep the pitted rust is and if it is possible to bore.Whats the chance of getting a running F162 to swap in?
Reply:They're out there. I don't have any idea where your at, so I can't say what the market is for welders there, but the truth is they're plentiful. There is always someone with a welder for parts. http://www.aws.org/cgi-bin/mwf/forum_show.pl Here's one spot to look. Advertise your looking at AWS.The fact that you need an F-162 and not an F-163 holds with the 1966 numbers, too.Last edited by gizzardgutz; 06-26-2009 at 06:33 PM.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:I think I am going to part out this welder and what is good on the engine.  Anyone know the best place to list these parts?  Ebay?

Reply:Russel, I just saw your post, I wish I got an email when someone posts on a thread. I don't want to call this late tonight.  I started on the tear down of the unit.  Have not removed the exciter or generator yet.If you are interested in this give me a call when you can.  502-644-4468Sam
Reply:I would drive a couple of hundred miles for an SA200 if it were cheap enough.
Reply:If you guys are interested, I put some of the key parts on ebay.  Looks like they are going pretty cheap.I have more, if you need something from the control panel of the SAF-300 let me know.http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZoem_invQQhtZ-1
