I have found a short hood in a junk yard but the engine is missing the head, starter , and magneto. Originally I thought it was too far gone with the engine out in the weather. Do these units use the F-163 and what would a good used or rebuildable one run it I wanted to do a swap. I know it is a lot of work but I would really like to restore one of these old units. Are all of these continental engines similar or are the welder ones specific. point being are they easy to find. What other possible engines would work. How about the Wyllys Jeep, I know of a Hobart with one that can be had cheap."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
Reply:I would buy it. I would buy nearly anything though. You should see my hobart. Its a wreck but I love it.I have a F162 for sale but its located in Texas and the freight would probably be more than the asking price.I would get it and start looking for parts.
Reply:same junk yard has a complete Hobart, must be 50's or early 60 and it has Wyllys Jeep , said it was running about 3 yrs ago, would that motor mate with the short hood??"Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
