Newb questions:What is the advantage of a 4 sensor over a 2 sensor hood?alsoI am considering purchase the new Lincoln 4C style hood. I am hoping to gain a better/ clearer view....according to the sales hype.Any thought/opinion about the Lincoln 4C techologyTks Gentsed
Reply:In my opinion, the advantage is when trying to look around obstructions. More sensors increases the likelihood of at least one of them detecting the arc and not being blocked.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Anyone using the Lincoln the 4C lenses
Reply:any suggestion?
Reply:The more the better from the hoods ive tried especially if watching others weld 2 can sometimes be a pain. Was also looking at the 4C to replace my old speedglas
Reply:I don't have one but the miller digital elites have 4 sensor and an x-mode that triggers on the electrical field put out when welding, I hear that's nice for low amp tig.
Reply:2 sensor hoods might not trigger if they sensors are blocked from the arc. If both sensors are on the top or bottom of the lens it's actually pretty easy to have them be in a shadow. I've been flashed a few times with my miller digital elite that has 4 sensors when I was welding through exhaust headers.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:It is a sale gimmick. Sure maybe it is better the more you have but shield the arc with the nozzle and most like any lens is going to lighten Any but a fixed one for sure.Sales gimmick like a huge lens is. |
