Hobart lists 4943 TIG rod. They say my nearest dealer is Airgas. Locally, or online Airgas has never heard of the stuff. Does anyone have a good source. I would start with 10 lbs to see how it works, 1/16?

Reply:I get mine from Sims in SoCal. B_C gets his from Matheson in NorCal I believe. Yes is is a buck or 2 per lb higher in price than it should be. Reply:So I've been wanting to try this too. I just called up and down the coast in Cali, no one has the vaguest idea. Reply:Airgas actually found the stuff and shipped it to my house. Unfortunately the two diameters came from two places, so I got hosed on shipping, which was not included. But they did it. Service is very store dependent.I would use Indiana after reading this thread again.

Reply:Pretty weld.Waiting for some 1/8" 4943 to weld the cooler tank up. Im using 1/8" diamond plate. 3/32 is hard to feed fast enough.

Reply:Back on 5/31 Kevin Morin started a thread on this alloy, very interesting.  If you are in Northwestern New Jersey and have a need for this stuff, County Welding in Wharton NJ stocks this (973-366-2320) I have purchased it from them @ $7.92 for 1/16 & $7.18 for 3/32 per lb.  Hope this helps.  Best regards,  BobOriginally Posted by shovelonYeah it's hard to tell without seeing it. Reply:Yes 100%. At least thats what the dial on the mixer says. I always have both cylinders turned on so there could be some He in there. Shouldnt be much though. Honestly I never read the manual but the sticker says to turn He cylinder on, then Ar, and so I always do that even when on Ar100%.
