hi everyone,i have a lincoln 305g with about 500 hours on it. up until know i have only used it for welding, but the other day was in need of some gouging to cut out some welds. now i have heard that gouging can kill smaller welders like the 305, but i only used 3/16 carbons and it burned them beautifully around 280 amps. my question is, do you think occasional gouging is alright for this machine?thanks
Reply:Light gouging with the 3/16 carbon will not kill your machine. I have gouged with my TB on many occasions with the 3/16 carbon. I do not go crazy and work the heck out of the machine just slow and steady. If there is grinding that needs to be done I alternate between the two to let the welder cool.
Reply:As long as you don't exceed the duty cycle of the welder, it should not hurt it.
Reply:thanks for the replies guysdon't need to gouge everyday - nice to know you can though if you have to |
