I have a american bosch mag on a 69 redface, last ran 5 yr's ago. no spark from mag, replaced the coil and condenser and points from a runing machine so i know they are good, any other ideas on what else could be wrong? thanks Dave
Reply:to all that read this, i figured out what is wrong, the insides where rubbing against the magnets, bushing was worn in mag housing , made small shim, reassembled, now have good spark, will have to order new bushing but at least now i know what the problem is. by Dave PA
Reply:Thanks for posting up what the problem was once you found out. Hopefully this may help some one later with a similar issue..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Some had a bushing on points end of shaft but most had E15 thrust type mag bearings on both ends you shim them preload with no grease for .001 to .002 end play then take apart again recharging magnet and greasing bearings. The MJH mag was similar to the MRD if you need anything for either and can't find it I have parts for those. Here is a link to MJH manual.http://www.oldengine.org/members/die...s/MagData6.htm |
