Hey Folks,I am finishing up my vertical smoker, its quite heavy and the main legs are very likely not perfectly level due to slight warpage and also because I had to shuffle and pivot it around on them whilst turning it over etc.The ends are also slightly dinged up from the moving.I want to trim them and get them as level as possible before I put on the wheel plates. My floor is not level at all.If I use a digital angle gauge like thisand use it on a straight edge, would zeroing it on the top red linethen use that as a reference to draw a line along the bottom red line(both sides) work ?Likewise for the other side(green line).MM 180
Reply:If your floor is "not level at all" then what good will it do? Are you going to sell the smoker? 4 contact points will always have a tendency to rock.I would use 3 contact points and make 2 adjustable if I wanted to level the unit.
Reply:where its being built is not level..MM 180
Reply:Even if you get it perfect on a dead flat and level surface, chances are where you go to put it will not be flat, let alone level, and it will still rock. With 4 legs if you want it "perfect" chances are you'll need adjustable legs on all 4, even if you don't use them. If you simply want to get rid of the rock, then you could get away with just 2 adjustable feet..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Build a tripod....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:This reminds me of watching a stack of four tubes being clamped up and faced off to length on a horizontal boring machine before they were used for legs of a stand that was used to support a rolled ring for sub arc welding. The people involved must have wasted several hours on this huge and expensive machine all for nothing. Make two or more legs legs adjustable in some way and you are off to the races. Try to get the ends reasonable plus or minus an eighth. Weld on the wheel plates and bolt the casters on to the plates using some shim plates with holes slotted. |
