I have a Craftsman Color-Matic Continous Control Arc Welder.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...matic-ac-stick I don't have a HF box cant afford one. Can I tig with it in Ac? Can I convert it to dc with 300amp rectifiers?http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOROLA-MBR...item3f39f1cd8eThanks
Reply:The DC conversion has been done here. Also, someone here did TIG with an AC buzzbox and Argon with ok results on steal . I tried an AC buzzbox with Helium but it wouldnt stay lit. Helium needs a higher voltage to ionize and would only make pock marks.
Reply:Four rectifiers and an appropriate heat sink should make a good bridge rectifier assembly.Be sure to add shielding to keep fingers and other stuff out of the circuit.Last edited by nadogail; 09-12-2014 at 07:17 PM.I offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap. Reply:I converted my little 230 amp AC only craftsman to DC. I wanted to try a decentralized rectifier with multiple bridge rectifiers and it has worked well.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...to-AC-DC/page2old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder |
