330cu argon good price?

What's a good price to pay for a full 330cu cylinder?
Reply:well the argon gas is worth around $50the cylinders themselves are hard to exchange, so are almost worthless in many areas. I paid $100 for a full one a few years ago. Now it is sitting empty in my workshop.I'm in charlotte, nc area and can't find any welding place that will exchange them.I did get an open account with air gas, but their prices were double anyone else and we don't use enough argon to make a lease worth it.

Reply:I have a 330 for oxygen that was given to me. I don't exchange my cylinders (except for acetylene), I have them fill them on site.  My LWS will do that (many in my area will).To answer your question... if it is an owner bottle (clear collar) and current on hydro test I wouldn't be surprised to see a $450 asking price.  I wouldn't pay more than $350 for it unless you just have to have that big of a bottle (they are very heavy).If it is not current on test you may have to have it tested yourself since you will likely have a hard time exchanging it so I would say it is worth maybe $150-$250.Testing isn't expensive once you know where to go.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.

Reply:So it ended up being C25, but I still took it.Here's my question, it has a collar that says Tri-weld Long Island and is sprayed tri weld.Will any supplier still swap it out or do I HAVE to go to tri weld? Reply:All swapped out.Fully filled argon 330cu no charge for the swap. Technically they made money on the swap since I gave them C25.Today was a good day.

Reply:Your LWS isn't stupid, they want your business. When LWS A has a few of LWS B's bottles a phone call is made and bottles are swapped back. You give me mine back, I'll give you yours. The real local guys are either fight against the Airgas or are looking to sell out..welderbob
