Is a Yost vise any good? I don't think I have ever seen or used one. What would a nice used 6" go for?ThanksRussell
Reply:Yost like Wilton make quality vises in the USA. But just like Wilton they have a low end import line, the Yost import you can tell as they sort of look like a piece of pipe with jaws. Those brand new are a couple hundred bucks max, so used its all about condiition. I would give $50-75 for one used, they are no better or worse than the other imports. Now the made in USA Yosts are top quality, new they are $800+, so a good quality used one is going to be $200-300, and there is no guess work on them it has USA in the castings. If I knew where a good used on is for a fair price I would pick it up.
Reply:Damn good vise.I got one brand new off craigslist for $100 model 34CWouldn't take 3 times that for it.price one at lowes $1675.00
Reply:We have a couple 8" Yost vises at work. They are absolute junk. Excessive play and sloppy screw/nut fit. I would NOT recommend one.One of the **** vises at work is identical to this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...d_i=B002PCO3U4Last edited by apollo; 04-21-2012 at 04:18 PM.

Reply:I doubt $250 will make it happen, but under $400.00 is a decent price. Location in the country seems to make a difference S Cal is cheaper on vises than here in N Idaho. |
