I bought this welder used a few years ago and it didn't come with the mig stuff. Getting to the point where I will be using it soon. I have seen a universal kit for sale at Sears. Will this work or does it have to be a Lincoln kit? The Sears price is less than $100, without a bottle.I have looked at the Licoln website and can't even find just the kit for sale. And I have read that their price is about double the Sears kit. Thanks,Russ
Reply:H.D. has it for about one fifty, here. But if you only need a hose and regulator, they are pretty generic. Don't quote me, but any kit may do. I have to look into setting up a well used pair of mig machines for the boss here soon. One is the 3200 Lincoln, and the other is a Hobart 175. The Lincoln just needs a tank and solid wire, the Hobart was hammered a lot harder, it needs a plug end, a whip, the hose, regulator... a wax job, you name it! City of L.A. Reply:Thanks. After reading the manual I am really not sure what I need. It talks about changing liners and stuff, which I don't think comes in the cheaper kit. Can't afford either right now, but maybe I should just try to get the Lincoln kit later on. Russ
Reply:I have done a few of these conversions. Get the Lincoln kit. Trust me. Reply:Russ, I think what you are calling the Universal Kit at Sears may just be the Regulatoris it this one?"Harris Calorific Shielding Gas Kit"http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...eyword=welding..if it is, that is just a Regulator, Hose and adapter for CO2 bottles. You need the Gas Solenoid that comes in the Lincoln Mig CONVERSION kit.Like this onehttp://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.co...ION-KIT/DetailEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Yep, that first link was the Sears one I had seen. And the second link has the model number that my manual listed. Glad I asked here. I will just have to save up for the lincoln kit. I figured the other was too cheap to be what I needed. At least now I know where to find it. Thanks,Russ
Reply:I put a Lincoln mig kit on my weldpak 100 and couldn't get enough penetration (even on 16gauge). But, in retrospect, I didn't have a flow gauge connected either, which probably allowed too much cover gas volume and cooled the weld. Reply:Amazon has the kit, looks like a better deal? BTW, They also had the Harris kit at the same 84 $ and change. For 5$ more why wait?
