This is a custom Fire Pit Screen for a family who's last name is Ford. The concrete pit was poured and I had to make a lip for the screen to rest on.  I worked a piece of 3/4 x 3/4 angle iron the hard way to be inside the pit. The dome is made from 1/4 x 2 flat.  The pit has a diameter of 36 1/4.  There are doors on each side that are latched with magnets. The Ford logo on top has a bearing to allow it to swivel.   The leaves are all hand forged, but I mig welded them together and to the frame. I shot the works with stove black rattle can paint.   They just need a roaring fire to test it out. Thanks for looking, John Attached Images

Reply:Thanks all.  I have used magnets for fire screen latches before and haven't had a problem as of yet.  The magnets should be far enough from the hottest fire to keep them from going over critical.  However if they do lose their magnetism I can rebuild a latch. The leaves are forged from 5/8ths square stock.  I tapered a point and then the stem.  I leave about an inch plus of stock at it's original thickness.  Then turn that on the diamond and forge down. I have a propane forge and a Little Giant 50# trip hammer that makes this all possible.  I wouldn't want to try with just a gas ax and a hand hammer. Thanks,John
Reply:John,As almost always, nice look'n work.I believe this picture is your 50# Little Giant back before you ended up with custody of it.   I remember helping your uncle unload it and start cleaning it up and figure out what needed to be done to get it back in running shape.
Reply:Thanks Fire Marshall - I have a short video of my 13 year old running the trip hammer...but I'm not smart enough to attach it here!
