I am designing a small plate coupon cutter/beveler and a beveling machine for pipe coupons 8"+ dia that will not fit in my lathe using a machine body torch.I found two torches at a local rebuilders shop that I'm going to look at next week. He said one is a rebuilt short body Victor and the other is a "monster" Victor that he said is almost 20" long and is new and still in the original package from 10-15yrs ago when it retailed for $1500. I don't know any model #'s yet but the short one will work for what I'm building and the big one just sounds cool to have for something. Now for the question, I run oxy/propane with my Victor performer & ST2600 torches using an acetylene reg (and propane tips) and they work fine. When doing some research on Victors site they list the machine torches for acetylene or alternative fuel gas only. I found this strange because most torches will run on whatever gas the tip is for.Are the machine body ones fuel specific? The two I'm going to look at are for acetylene.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
