I been in the shop for the the last hour hooking up my tank, changing to solid wire and flipping the electric contacts around. I finally get to run some practice beads. The recommended settings are way to hot, burning through to the other side. This is 1/8" plate with .035 wire. This is my second set of beads. All constructive comments and thoughts are welcome. TIAOn a side note, I need to remember to breathe while I weld. I find myself holding my breath . Attached ImagesTom F.Hobart Handler 190 mig gunWilton Vise Restoration

Reply:You can't really tell how cold a bead is without etching it. Etching is very good R and D!!! Try and weld a 1/4" or 3/16 t-joint and etch it. You can tell you started on the left because your head is getting wider and wider as you keep heating up the plate.
