Man, I feel like a COMPLETE DUMB A$$! Today, I was having a hard time seeing out of my hood. So finally I got frustrated to the point I had to stop and change the inner & outer clear lens'.  Well, I grabbed one Radnor, with green film on it, and one Anchor that was clear. Holy crap, I still can't see a thing. I was going crazy. So, I finally realized the problemo. The clear Anchor lens, HAD CLEAR PROTECTIVE FILM ON IT! I haven't done much welding this year, until lately, and I completely forgot about the film. Yeah, it REALLY helps to remove it!!!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:I've had a couple of students that had that happen to them. One went almost thru 6 classes before I let him try my hood and went to use his before I noticed he hadn't removed that protective film. Amazingly his skills improved dramatically when he wasn't looking thru 2 layers of that film..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Stick-man don't feel bad.  Lot's of folks have done that.I pulled a Dumb-A$$ stunt of mine a while back.  Turned on my little ESAB stick inverter, turned the amp knob to where I wanted it and started to do some welding.  The beads looked like cr*p, sputtered and belched, wouldn't keep an arc going, etc.  I re-ground the area for my ground clamp, cleaned up the jaws on the stinger, checked the cable connections...nothing worked.  I figured that the welder itself had gone bad... then I looked down at the switch panel.  It's a stick/TIG welder.  Somehow I had flipped the selector switch from stick to TIG.  Flipped it back to stick, welded like a dream!  DUHHHHHH....
Reply:Ha I was testing a TIG/stick machine a couple weeks ago. Reply:Left Tig setting on AC and tried to do steel. Then next day forgot to turn Argon on. Getting real good grinding Tungstens.
