I have two sa 200's i'm trying to get running again. one runs, but i plugged in a power tool to the outlet and got nothing. another thing i'm looking for is a mainteance manual...would like to know what the correct weight of oil to use is. these are both older machines. F 163's if that's any help. i put 30wt in the one today, but now it burns oil...perhaps 50wt. the old oil i had in there when i bought it seemed to keep it from burning or slinging. any words of advice?

Reply:I use 30w. 40w wouldn't hurt it, but 50w might be too heavy, depends on the weather conditions where you live. If it stays warm enough use the 50w. You might try something to clean the valves and get a better seat/seal. Marvel mystery oil works wonders for me. Also, the following info might be helpful to you for future references. First, if you're going to own an SA200 then go here http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...ualsearch.aspx and get the correct Operator's Manual based on your units Code#Then put http://billswelderrepair.com/home.html, http://www.weldmart.com/default.htm, http://www.stumpfweldingsupplies.com/index.html and http://www.aws.org/cgi-bin/mwf/board_show.pl?bid=44 in your favorites list for parts and valuable information. Kaye and Bill at Bill's Welder Repair are awesome for telephone technical support and I'm sure the others are as well. And go here http://www.weldmart.com/SA200%20CATA...EST%20FORM.htm to request your free CD on the SA200 from Weldmart  No SA200 owner should be without one.And finally:Flashing the exciter field consists of passing current through the fields using an external source of 6 to 125 volts of DC power from a storage battery or DC generator. If using a DC generator, keep the generator turned off except when actually applying the flashing current. To flash the fields: 1.Turn the welder off. Raise one exciter brush off the commutator.2.On Lincoln welders, attach the positive lead from the external DC source to the right hand brushholder.3.Carefully holding an insulated section of the negative lead from the DC source, touch its lug or clamp to the left hand brushholder for five seconds. Pull it away quickly to minimize arcing. Remove the lead from the right hand brushholder, replace the brush on the commutator, start the welder and the generator voltage should build up.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
