New oxy/acet rig owner

Just picked up an old set from an estate sale, seem good condition.  Any checklist items I should run through to ensure safety/suitability for use?  I know tanks need to be re certified, what does this typically cost? Thx!
Reply:As far as the cylinders go, depends. My place exchanges cylinders and even though I'm an irregular customer there they know me by name, they seldom even bother to look at the dates on any cylinders I bring in unless they are super nasty. Then I think usually they ding me $20 for the test.Hard to make suggestions on what to do with the rest of the gear without seeing it. If it's clean and in good shape, I'd just go ahead and use it. If anything is questionable or really grungy, I'd think about sending it out to Regulator and Torch Exchange to have it rebuilt. Reply:Personally, I got new hoses for my used set.  I haven't had to fill them up yet, but I know mine are out of date and I think my LWS charges $35 for the test (you should be fine after that...unless you let yours sit around for years without use).Did you get the torch you need/want with the set?  Check to make sure the valves shut all the way off.  If not, and you want to keep the torch, I recommend a rebuild service.  I can get you the name of my rebuilder, if you need it.  I got a vintage Victor 100 torch for $12 online, then sent it to be rebuilt for $75.  Now it is essentially a vintage, brand new torch.  Same with the regulators.  IF they don't seal, send them to a rebuilder, who will tell you if they are worth rebuilding, or paint them red, if they are not.Other than that, just a selection of tips, for whatever you plan to do with that torch.jOH...you don't need a full shade 10 helmet for O/A.  You can get by with shade 5.  So, you might want to pick up some goggles or a full-face, fixed-shade-5 helmet--depending on your preferences.Kev.Kevin / Machine_Punk from The Aerodrome Studio - Lincoln PowerMIG 210 MP - Meco N Midget w/custom welding station - Vintage Victor 100Current Projects: The Aerodrome Studio
