I saw a video of a welder that had two different wire feeders on it. Does anyone know how you can do it.thankswade
Reply:Miller makes dual head feeders where you can switch between wires easily. Also most of the XMT's I've used, all you'd have to do to run a 2nd feeder would be to change out the dinse and 14 pin connectors from one feeder to another, so in theory you could have any number of feeders ready to go..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Depending on what brand and type of machine you have, it just depends. Are you looking to run two of them at once? How about a link to the video? If you want to run two separately, you can buy one of these and connect two different feeders to the same power source. Flip the switch and use either feeder. I had a couple of these at one time, but they're long gone.http://www.ebay.com/itm/MILLER-PROCE...-/331761513995As Doug said, you can also use a dual head feeder for two different types of wire. Both sides can be set up with different polarity, gas etc. In order to properly isolate each side of the feeder if using different polarity, it would be best to have a polarity switch box, which is a simpler version of the process selector control without remotes.Again, it depends on what you're doing. You can get into multi operator machine platforms, but they're not cheap. In most cases, having two separate welding machines with wire feeders would be less expensive in comparison to a true multi operator setup. I personally don't know of any CV machines with multiple remotes. Most are CC Stick machines that operators connect voltage sensing wire feeders to. Again, big bux for stuff like that. The application will be the key. More information is needed.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:This is the link if it works right guy has an old Hobart with two different feeders he talks about it about 3/4 thru the video.thankswade
Reply:The guy talks WAAAAY too much I tried to sit thru a few minutes, he's all over the place.Looks like he hack wired a 14 pin connector to the back of the machine to run the Miller feeder off it. He's not running both at once. So in this case, yes he has two feeders connected to the same machine. I don't know how he did it inside. I'm sure it wasn't hard, but I don't really do that kind of work. That Miller feeder is 24 volts, so he was able to get it off the Hobart power source. Both feeders can be ran, but not simultaneously. Like I said above, you can get a dual head feeder that will do the same thing, or if you had the feeders already, a process selector control of using Miller machinery. If you have something else, I can't help you with that. I don't really get into that kind of stuff. At least not when it comes to advising ppl on the internet how to go about it.What exactly are you looking to do?Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:well iam thinking of converting an old miller cp welder to single phase and wanted to have two feeders one with dual shield flux core and the other hard wire in .045 like I use at work, we weld heavy material in spray arc and I wanted to be able to do some practice at home and be able to weld about anything that came my way.thankswade
Reply:You could probably run and additional remote off of it depending on the style. It will be either 14 pin or the older twist lock style. I would just run two cords and swap out when needed. The 14 pin connection would be easier to piggyback off of, but if you do it without a switch between the two remotes, you're power running to the feeder will always be live and the gas solenoid on the feeder you're not using will likely turn on and off when using the running feeder.Been my experience anyways.Post up some pix of the machine you have.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:Having a remote feeder and a voltage sensing feeder would be an option. Might have to jumper a contactor to run a VS feeder on that machine.
Reply:That's what Scott (Brand X) does with his Shopmate. He uses the Spoolgun remote to jumper the contactor and put a switch on the end of the plug. He can turn it off and on as needed.I would probably install a switch in the panel, or in his case after the warranty was up.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948

Reply:Yeah, the Shopmate should have a contactor switch on it like the XMT does so you can run VS feeders without messing around with jumpers.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948

Reply:Hand remote will get you contactor, and adjustable voltage with a VS feeder.. no remote panel contactor switch for CV on the Shopmate 300 DX.. I use the ten pin for that instead..(LN-25 pro with .045 dual shield in it) I do have a Miller feeder on the 14 pin, and a Lincoln LF-72 setup to run aluminum with a Tweco pull gun. Have to swap out the 14 pin to the Lincoln feeder to hook it up. I use a Lincoln 14 pin adapter to (says to competitive power source)  the Miller Shopmate.  Now Thermal arc inverters with a 14 pin, and 19 pin is plug, and play, for two cable control feeders hooked up at once. Of course you can only weld with one at a time..Most the time I just use my Tweco 211i Miller is excellent though, and I think Miller got that one totally right...(except no 120 volt on the 14 pin, and panel cv contactor switch. Pretty minor things ,and just nit picking it.. First Shopmate I welded with had a VS feeder hooded up that way. The miller rep. brought the VS instead of a RC feeder to run it off. Just hooked a hand remote up.. I liked it, never could get a good read how nice the Shopmate really was..Last edited by Brand X; 01-30-2016 at 12:02 AM.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i

Reply:I have this older SCP 200 C sitting here that once I figure out the problem it has with the rectifier overheating, I'll put a contactor control switch in the panel so a VS feeder can be run off of it without messing around.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
