Hello, I recently picked up a stick welder. It has no plug. I would like to pick up a generator as so I can fix the bucket on the tractor loader and do some other welding. The plug has 3 wires, the new welders have a NEMA 50A-250V 3 prong plug. I have not been able to locate welders that will accept this type of plug.So I need to install a 3 wire plug that works on the generator. The generators seem to have a 3 types of plugs , regular house 3 prong, special 3 prong and 4 prong. The only plug on the generators that indicates 240 is the 4 prongs.Hope I am makeing sence. Thanks in advance for any help
Reply:Just find a matching type and use the proper NEMA nomenclature when asking your local electric supplier.http://www.220outlet.com/pictures/nemachart.jpgLink to site; http://220outlet.com/electricaloutlets.phpCity of L.A. Reply:The four pin has a neutral that is not needed for the welder. You have two options. Change the plug or make a short adapter cord.Go to the electrical question threads it is explained there.
Reply:if you are planning on using the ac 225s on a generator? you will need one that can handle a 60 amp draw which is probably somewhere around 15kw.you may be better off buying a gas welder.ZebMillermatic 200Miller Dialarc 250 ac/dcAll people have the right to stupidity but some abuse the privilege |
