Hello, my name is Dave and took my first welding class back in 1970. I have welded for construction purposes as need be over the years and on race cars but I do not consider myself a welder. Just because you can paint does not make you an artist …. or as they say.Anyways, I have my first inquiry for anyone in the know. I have already just bought a Miller 211 and spent all my coin on that so am looking at getting a helmet. I will most likely start with an old school non ADF most likely using a gold 2 x4-1/2 german lens like I did back in the day. I do have a lead on a Speedglas MP Helmet.Question: What would you be willing to pay for say a complete brand new Speedglas 9100 MP Helmet complete with head harness and face plate but comes minus no ADF, Box or CD - but otherwise complete and ready to hook up to a 3M respiratory hose and filter if need be but however which is not included ? If you already have a 9100 V, X, XX, or Xxi all you would need to do is remove your present Speedglas ADF and attach it to this MP Helmet. I notice the shells are available new from various dealers all packaged up for around $ 575 or so. Thanks in advance for any inputDaveEdit: BTW: I realize this may not be the best forum to post this topic but was the most convenient for me and what the hay - it's my first post :')Last edited by FLASHGORDON; 01-27-2016 at 09:42 PM.
Reply:…. Well, Perhaps This should read " What should I be willing to pay" since I am the one looking to buy this helmet. I have no idea if this helmet has great or limit value, however with that said, since I for one would have to buy a ADF for it and that would cost anywhere from 300 up to 450 dollars I am wondering if it still has value IF I wanted to sell it if not satisfied with it. On the other hand, if someone already had a 9100 series helmet, they could then just switch their ADF back and forth as the need arose and this helmet would be an asset to that person and be more valuable. Any thoughts ?

Reply:Used prices for just about anything are 50-80% of new, unless they are really old/ratty (then lower). PAPR systems are expensive. If you want to buy one of those to hook up to this helmet you will easily spend another $500-1000. But they sure are nice. So find a decent retail price and go from there.-DaveXMT304 with: 22A Feeder, or HF251 Hi Freq DC TIG air cooled
Reply:Thanks for your reply davec it is appreciated and helpful. The helmet is new however and not used but hear what your saying. Thought I would post this, since have no idea of it's value or if welders on the job would find this a useful and comfortable item and there is a market for it and if I found I did not like it and wanted to I could easily sell it without having to give it away. So going by what your saying I would think a never used, new item should sell with a 25% off the sticker price making this helmet worth around $ 420 or so - that is to someone that could use it. So Just going by the lack luster response to this post and giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, I am going to conclude that this helmet would not be on the top of folks must have A-List, since the majority are not in the field a lot where it would be a requirement or are just kicking bar stock around in their welding stables in their shop or garage. But if someone is interested in not only protecting their eyes but their respiratory/systemic system from inhaling chromium and/or other such poisons emitted from everyday normal welding, this could be a added wall trophy bonus helmet.
Reply:Sounds like you get it...Post in the for sale sub-forum, and bump it once every week or two. It will take time to sell...-DaveXMT304 with: 22A Feeder, or HF251 Hi Freq DC TIG air cooled
