Ford F 750 dump truck trailer hitch?

Have a customer who wants me to put a trailer hitch on there dump truck only issue is the frame is about 2 foot from the end of the body. They have a hitch on the end of the frame but it is tucked under the dump body and is a pain to hook up. They want a hitch to hang from the bottom on the dump body frame  rails which are made out of 6" c channel. They plan on pulling a 10 ton equipment trailer. Reply:How do they intend to keep the box from dumping when the trailer is hooked and loaded? Had a few customers ask for that over the years. I never figured a way that would work good. I did move the truck hitch back as far as I could on a few so that it just cleared the dump at full tilt. I ran the hitch down at an angle towards the rear with a lower hitch point, then lowered the trailer hitch to match. Reply:Come off of the truck frame rails in like a drop down V shape to a pintle plate... if you understand what I mean. You can probably get the hitch real close to the end of the body and still be able to dump. Like what the fellow above said. Reply:If it's not a hydraulic down. (Just gravity down) then it's a bad idea. Reply:My C65 has a 3/4"? thick plate hanging from the dump frame, supported by 4" C channel frame, which is in turn braced back to the channel stringers of the dump. It has worked OK in the past without, but some technique to tie down the front of the dump body adds a sense of confidence. A big load (16,500) on the 9 ton triaxle trailer down a steep hill gets worrisome. So far a chain, and binder work OK. I plan to use a pin device in future. Dump mechanism serves as a hydraulic damper, but having it lift even an inch is unnerving.Some dump bodies may not extend far enough back to clear when dumped. Reply:A truck where i used to work had a swiveling upside down A frame come from the dump bed. The main hitch would then extend from the frame way under the dump bed, (also hinged), and rest in the A frame. When dumping we would pull a pin, push the A frame towards the cab, swivel the main hitch under that and use a small chain to hold it up while dumping.
Reply:I did a similar hitch on a box and hoist truck.  I pivoted the hitch from the pivot pin for the box and had vertical supports to tie the hitch up to the box.  I put hold down latches on the front of the box to the frame to prevent the bed from tilting up with a load on the hitch, even though it had a power down hoist.The other way would to be install a longer tongue on the trailer and dump over the tongue if there is not to much overhang on the box for that method.
