I am using a 256 GPH submersible pump from Harbor freight. I just use a clean 5 gallon bucket of water and put the pump at the bottom. I dump the water when I'm done and refill when I need it.The problem is, I don't know if this pump has enough flow. It's barely drizzling out the end of the hose back into the bucket. Is anybody here using a similar setup and can shed some light on what size submersible pump I should be using?Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIGLincoln 110v flux core welder (my 1st)Clarke 180EN MIG
Reply:The pump must be able to make about 50psi and flow greater than about .75 L/min at that pressure. As pressure goes up, flow goes down. you'll need a chart to see if the pump is suitable. Usually those pumps can't make anywhere near enough pressure.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:You need a pump that can develop more pressure. That is why almost everyone who builds their own tig cooler uses a 1L per minute surflow diaphragm pump knock off.Did you read the build your own tig cooler sticky?old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder |
