This thing FINALLY showed up (at another shop ) myself and another guy had to go get it today before the other shop figured it out and started robbing parts off it. Spent most of the day moving, unpacking, and leveling it. Tomorrow is wiring, install the DRO and cleaning all the damn packing grease off it. Anyone got a real good way of cleaning up the gunk? It almost looks like cosmoline type of stuff. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck is empty."-Grandad circa 1990ish

Reply:Kerosene is my favorite solvent for stuff like that. Kero dissolves any grease, doesn't attack the paint used on the machinery, it leaves a thin rust-resistant coating, and the dirty kero can be strained and filtered then consumed by adding to my heating oil tank.-MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
