What's better a helmet with air support or wearing a 3m filter that has2 pancakes or a bit better.Certainly cheaper than a forced air hood and looks more secure too.
Reply:Jody, welding tips and tricks, utube, uses them 3m pancakeswhen welding galvanized junk.my 2 cents
Reply:I have both. The helmet with air support is awkward to use but is nice if you are burning galvanized for a long period of time. For short periods a half mask is the way to go.
Reply:i have a battery powered welding shield/air filter made by msa. had to have a lung capacity test and a fitting lesson for a special project the dept was undertaking. either or both must have cost a fortune never mind the cost of this mask. big pita just getting into it. forget about working in a confined place. imvho go with a respirator.
