I have a project ford 8.8 rear end that I have to attach a torque arm mount to. I have a Miller 212 welder but the cost for the nickle wire and gas would probally out cost the price of doing just one job with it.I was wondering if anyone near the Palmdale or San Fernando valley with nickle welding rods would like to take on a side job. I have no problem paying a fair price. The torque arm box is a cnc cut kit and looks to be of good quality.I have a pic of what it is if I can figure out how to post up a pic.Miller 212JD2 model 3 BenderDeWalt 14" Chop sawDelta Drill Press

Reply:I can have the box all put together and welded, just need someone with experience welding cast to weld the box to the center sectionMiller 212JD2 model 3 BenderDeWalt 14" Chop sawDelta Drill Press
Reply:Dang thats alot of welding to a center section.  I bet there will be alot of warping.  I guess its too late since you already have yhe part but surely there is a simpler solution.  Keep us posted on how it goes.  Is preheat and regular mig wire not going to work?  Is the 8.8 center cast steel right?  I used some ni99 and ni55 stick rods.
Reply:Those are generally cast steel, so weldable with 70 S6. Tack it up and then run a bead and see how it performs.

Reply:On the old class 7s rangers most guys built a cage around the center section, doing all the welding to the tubes. I saw a couple dana 60's with a mount incorporated into a custom cover.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

It sucked the tubes in so far ,the axles were missing the carrier by about 3/4 of an inch when he tried to install them.
