Does anyone have any experience with these two saws?  http://www.baileighindustrial.com/sa...n/bs-712ms.phphttp://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?P...&PARTPG=INLMK3They have to be the same saw, in the picture they even have the same unused bolt holes.  Obviously the Enco is the cheaper...  I just wanted to know anyone has used either one.  My main criteria is atleast a 3/4" blade and a miter head.I like a grizzly one but the blade speed is just too fast on it.
Reply:If I was going to shell out that kind of money for that Baileigh, I'd take a hard look at an Ellis saw. While I haven't used one of the two you listed, I've used several Ellis saws at different shops and both of the tech schools. If I was going to get a miter band saw, that's the way I'd go myself. I've yet to hear anything bad about an Ellis, except maybe that they are pricey..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:We have an Ellis, I do not like non-liquid cooled design and I can have the Enco here for $1580
Reply:I just found it on MSC, they call it a Vectrax 712sg
Reply:I've got an ACCURA 01079VS  and am very happy with it. Same manufacturer as grizzly, cosen, dake and others. Made in taiwan. The only thing wrong in the description, is that it doesn't have carbide blade guides, they are ball bearing blade guides.http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACCURA-01079...item4ab9382581Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

Reply:Having welded on metal cut on liquid cooled saws for many years, I sure appreciate the air cooled Ellis design. I think it cuts faster and I know the mess is considerably less. I also like that with my Ellis I supported a US worker keep his job.
Reply:I've gotten blades from Mcmaster. 8' 1 1/2" fit just fine. Also, there are several custom blade makers online that are pretty fast. I like to keep a spare on hand because I am afraid the band might break without warning, but it hasn't happened yet. There is a switch on the machine to turn off the coolant flow, if you prefer. I cut lots of stainless and need the coolant and the variable speed. Rinsing the coolant off the cut end is as simple as dunking it in a bucket of clean water. If there was a USA made saw in the same configuration, I'd have bought it.Last edited by fortyonethirty; 07-27-2012 at 07:10 PM.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:bought my 712 from an auction for $200 and stuck about $80 in it for new blade and bearing guides. Haven't spent a dime on it since and I use the living **** out of it!I have come to the conclusion that ALL bandsaw are the same (size for size) and it is just different paint used by different companies on the saws. Possibly different motors but its null. Just a fyi, mine has coolant, I have tried everything from strait water, trans fluid, soap, antifreeze, you name it. Every single fluid has some drawback to it, I cut EVERYTHING dry now!
