Does anyone know if the Buildpro fixtures will work in any top with 5/8 OD holes cut into them? It seems as if I can get a top laser cut with the same diameter holes used by Stronghand for about the same price as one of the Buildpro slats. It's not 5/8 thick like the Buildpro but thick enough for what I do.Big F**king HammerJumper cables & 2 marine batteriesJaws of life
Reply:i'd buy a stronghand clamp. put a caliper on it. Talk to your laser vendor and do several test holes inorder to get a good fit. Not sure if they can control kerf with speed. Slower speed is perhaps more accurate but that is more heat into the metal. Laser will warp metal. It warps simple holes I have put in .25" hot roll. I would use waterjet for heat and accuracy reasons. But buy a clamp and take a measurement. dont assume it is .625
Reply:Do you mean these? https://www.zoro.com/buildpro-insert...w&gclsrc=aw.dsIf yes I LOVE them. I rented a magnetic drill and drilled a bunch of 5/8"on my table. My table is 3/4" thick. Works like a champ.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio

Reply:be sure to cut the same bolt pattern so you can bolt down their vertical riser blocks http://www.machinesspares.com/produc...e-clamp-53.jpg
Reply:i wish those clamps used better pads. I had stronghand clamps with my cast iron table and they were really well made: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jimm...69c3b.jpg.htmlthe pads those $16 clamps have their light duty pads, which are sh!t, just like the crappy C clamps we all have with the thin wobbly pads that spin and mark everything with a swirl. a clamp with a retail price of $16 is not going to be good. See if you can replace the light duty pads with the heavy duty replaceable pads. see the difference here. the beefire pads hold really well and with some litheum grease, the pads will not spin and mark your metal http://www.stronghandtools.com/stron...ts/uclamps.php

Reply:i was a furniture guy in dallas for a while (deep ellum) it was a fun side thing. i had a day job, dated a girl, rode mtbs and tinkered on cars as a hobby. now i have no hobbies, divorcing and now build furn full time. careful what you wish for. .25" is not ideal but it is certainly better than nothing. just dont blindly laser the metal. Be aware that the laser can warp your base metal. looks like the placement of your holes are for a jig to make a few different size of rectangle frames. probably going to use these stops to define your 90'shttp://www.stronghandtools.com/build...ge_stops_c.jpgThat will work very well. Just make the effort to keep it flat. maybe form a side edge on the table (4 sides) with a press brake to pull the edges flat and lightly weld a bar or two underneath. Or JB weld them in. If you could find someone local with an Acorn platen that you could clamp and weld down the mid bars would be ideal.
