Why after welding of carbon steel material more than 18mm thickness we require stress relieving and below 18mm thickness  we do not require stress relievingregards

Reply:I require stress relief after welding heavy weldments as well, usually in the form of a cold beer, sometimes in the form of a nap.

Reply:18mm is 0.070" - more than 5/8" but less than 3/4". If anyone is curious..........
