Sometimes you need the ability to drill small stock and the magdrill isn´t unusable for this task, when coupled with a mag drill stand that is. I designed this stand to simply bolt together and be adaptable to a lot of different similarly sized mag drills. You simply loosen the adjustment screws on top and snugs them up again. The parts are laser cut and when the parts arrive all you have to do is countersink some holes (and even this isn´t mandatory but it sure looks a little better). Spacers to lift the platform up comes in 2 different configurations. Option 1 is spacers that cover all three mounting holes and the second Option (my preference) is to use a spacer that covers only 2 mounting holes and adapt a piece of steel tubing to fit over the third hole. This way you could In theory drill holes in stock quite wide, if you remove the round spacers. When drilling through thick stock it´s recommended to use all spacers for stability as the assembly othervise can produce some flex in the platform and break your cutter. The drilling platform can be changed to one with mounting holes for a machinist vise and it can be made both bigger and smaller. The last piece of the puzzle is the mounting plate that fastens to the underside of the drilling platform. This can In turn be welded to a simple stand made up of square tube or whatever. If anyone wants plans for this pm me with a valid email address. i have ordered the parts for mine from my laser cutter  Be back in a few weeks.
Reply:That is a very nice and clean design. I really like how you are able to remove the two front spacers for larger pieces and replace them for added rigidity. The alignment screw slots are a great thing if you use more than one drill, then you don't have to make different top plates or have more bases. How thick is the top magnet plate and bottom drilling plate? I know some drills have a sensor that they will not power up if the material is not thick enough. I think the manual for mine says anything under 1/4" or 3/8" thick. This is not really an issue unless you'r using large twist drill bits because annular cutters require less down pressure. Great work and please post pics when you get it assembled.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:Very nice and should be a needed and useful piece of equipment.  Clever.
