tig cooler purchase? How to check..Photos!!!

Hi guys. I have a miller cooler that might be availible for me to buy. I plugged it in and she kicked on. How can i test the pump, and other things that make a cooler a cooler? I just want to do  quick test.thanks for all your advice. thanks.

Reply:I suppose you could put a pressure gauge on the outlet but I'd imagine if it pumps water it will work.

Reply:the fill hole is under the metal plate with two thumbscrews under the word "radiator"

Reply:I'm not sure on the price, I have a watermate 1a that I paid $50 for.  I think the boy found it dumpster diving and I had to take the cover off and tighten some hose clamps but it works good. I just lucked into that.I'd guess $150-$200 for the one your looking at, someone else should know better.
Reply:I opened the cover. There is a slight grinding sound that seems to be comming from the water pump fan area. Is there anything i could do to quiet it?    I paid $75 for the cooler. also, it pumps water, but is that all it does? do i check anything else?Last edited by loolagigi; 07-31-2012 at 07:23 PM.

Reply:It looks like an Oberdorfer pump. I had a blackface Radiator-1 that was in similar condition when I got it, main reason being was that the pump shaft seal was worn and leaked all over the chassis. Contacted Depco Pump (Oberdorfer parts dist. in Fl) for a replacement seal and out of curiosity asked about a new unit and hard rebuild kits...the prices were higher than I would ever invest in that particular machine. Popped in the new seal and made a paper gasket to seal the halves back together. Runs great.mantooth
