I have a Pro Mig 180 and am having trouble with it feeding wire. When I first got it in January I hooked it up for gas and loaded it with solid core .025 wire.I messed up and didn't have the hose end firmly seated in the socket at the machine.I wondered where the wire was going and finally pulled the hose off and it was all wadded up. Fixed that mess and continued to use it. It has always seemed jerky to me, but I never took the time to figure out why.I ran out of .025 and went to put a large roll of .035 solid on it and can't get the .025/.035 roller off to save my life.So I took a roll of  .035 flux core off of my Clarke 130, changed the tip on the PM180 and now it won't weld for more than a few seconds without jamming.  It is a brand new tip (tried two different ones). I had a burr at the end of the liner. I ground it smooth.I am wondering if I damaged the liner internally at the first, now it wont feed larger wire?I don't have any more .025.Any ideas? I live in the country, so I can't just run down the block and get a new liner. Thanks
Reply:I will reply to myself I called Lincoln and they said I possibly kinked the liner when I goofed the first time. And the .025 wire was small enough to feed anyway. He gave me a part number KP1937-3, so I ordered one from weldingsupply.com.Now I am concerned it is not correct. I have a 9 foot lead and I think a KP1937-3 is 15 feet. How hard is it to cut off and make it fit?
Reply:The liners come 15'.  You just have to cut to length.  I use a pair of Klein side snips to do the job.  On the back of the liner package, it will show a detail of what/how to do it.  You should be good to go if a kinked liner was your problem.
Reply:just split the coils with the side cutters, bend to 45 degrees and cut. 90% of the time it cuts clean and you don't have to grind off a burr. never use a cut off wheel. it leaves a very sharp edge that scrapes on the wire. liner is most likely bent at the end of the rubber boot.check your drive roll and make sure the groove is the same all the way around. not wider in one spot. feed wire out through the front of the welder then install the miggun.Do not cut liner to long or to short because both can cause problems feeding.Liner should come up to the contact tip and not push hard on it. The liner you ordered is for 023 to 035 wire. I would not used 035 flux core wire with that liner.also 030 wire work best with that liner.
