What do you think of this welder?

Hi all, while back decided against getting the hobart becuase i couldnt spend that money on just a mig welder.. so ive been doing alot of research and found the everlast powertig 185 http://www.everlastgenerators.com/pr...owertig-185-dvand was wondering what you all think? is it worth somthing considering? is it not going to be powerful enough? i dont want to spend more then 900 so this looks to be in my budget. Thanks
Reply:I don't mind heading down to Harbor Freight for tools that will either be used sparingly at best or for those 'sacrificial' models I don't want to lose one of my better tools on. On tools that see a fair amount of use and I hope to keep around for the rest of my days, I buy the better quality product because over time it has proven to be the cheapest alternative. Now to each their own, but I can't think of a job where I would need a 'sacrificial' welder and I'm not going to be using a welder sparingly...so you wouldn't catch that machine in my shop. Reply:I can't speak specifically to the Everlast 185, but I have owned and used an Everlast 250EX for about 4 years now with no issues whatsoever.  I have other choices for welding in my garage, but for quick and easy tig welding the 250EX continues to be my go-to machine.  One of the first things I did when I set up the 250EX was add a water cooler because I didn't trust the torch cable to stand up to 250 amps without the extra cooling.  I have never used it for the SMAW function as I have a dedicated stick machine, but usually default to the mig welder instead.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma

Reply:What's your location ?  If you want stick , I would look for a Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC or a Lincoln tombstone AC/DC. Check craigs list and buy for around $200 and use the rest of money for goodies. Do you have adequate power ?

Reply:From what I have read you might want to look at the I-mig 200 from Everlast.  110v/220v capability with mig and stick functions that should cover just about anything you want to do in your garage and have the balls to weld some thicker material if necessary.  If you decide to weld aluminum add a spoolgun.  It can be picked up for $650 + shipping.

Reply:I meant what I said.  Nobody pays list price for welders.  Look online and you will find much better deals.  Ebay is where you can find the deal I told you about.
