Corvette frame repair

I get aluminum welding work from auto body shops. Aluminum is being used more and more in cars for weight saving.This 2014 Corvette had slight damage to the front cross member behind the bumper. Changing the complete part would have taken maybe three times the labor time so it was decided to do a straighten and splice.Body shop removed bumper, light, hood and fender:The damage to the cross member:Cut out and straighten center web of the extrusion:Cut new section to fit:After tacking, welded up:

Reply:That was TIG welded. The photos didn't come out very well, may have been too much coffee that day.
