Fired up the CNC plasma, and was apprehensive of cutting 2 parts out of expensive 1/2 inch steel. As I had quite a few issues with the cutter but I have worked them all out so I decided its now or never. I could not belive the cut quality I ended up getting. I was really happy with it. The edges are straight enough you cannot detect a taper by eyeballing it. I dont know if the pics will do it justice. keep in mind the last pic is the slug removed from the materiel and has all the crap on it. Reply:Looks good! What kind of tolerances can you maintain?
Reply:Honestly I have not checked, the holes are purly for decoration. And the customer picked up the parts already, but I have a test cut that I did just before and can mic it and see.Edit: I just checked my test cut holes. I did a 1 1/4 inch hole and a 1 1/2 inch hole, and the 1.25 hole came in at 1.2750 at the top edge and the bottom was 1.2755 the 1.5 hole came in at 1.5240 on the top and 1.5250 on the bottom edge. So it appears that I can hold it to .020-.025 of an inch. Keep in mind that I'm still learning and it could get better yet. (I doubt it will be much better but who knows)Last edited by ★ NoBigDeal Fab ★; 09-09-2012 at 09:21 PM.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
