I need some help. Everytime my machine goes to idle up it makes a clicking noise from the idle control and throws the breaker inside. Is the idle control bad? Still generates great and has no other issues than this. Any help would be great. Code 10400. Model 300 DLX.Thanks.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-JZ8KffmrU[/ame] Attached Images
Reply:Also, the wires and terminals are all good, The control unit itself looks kinda rusty/worn out.
Reply:Some thing may have shorted out? inside of idle unit.
Reply:Unplug the solenoid and see if breaker still trips:If no trip - problem is with solenoid. If still strips - problem not with solenoid.Check solenoid temperature for signs of overheating.Overheating indicates high current draw.Check solenoid to be sure plunger is free to travel and bottom completely when energized. Partially traveled plunger will cause high current draw.Good Luck
Reply:Good video clip.  Acts like the 'hold' coil isn't energizing or is bad.  Wires 222J (from circuit breaker) and 214A (from Idler Control Board) power up the hold coil.  As denrep stated, the 'pull in' coil draws the most current and is not intended to remain energized or it will burn out.  the cycling is preventing the coil from remaining energized and my guess is the continued activation of the pull in coil is the cause of the tripped breaker so the challenge will be to find out if the hold coil or the board is defective of if it's just a poor connection in one of the harness plugs. If the hold coil is good, you should have continuity between wires 222J and 214A at the solenoid harness plug.  If it's good, you should be able to manually push the solenoid in to bottomed out and it stay in when released with power applied to wire 222J and 214A grounded. If the solenoid checks out, set up to read voltage at between wires 222J and 214A with the harness plugged in and see if you get a voltage reading when the solenoid pulls in.  Actually what you're looking for is wire 214A going to ground.  If no voltage reading, check all the plugs (if you haven't already) and if they're all good check to see if wire 214 at the board (cavity 1 at plug J1) goes to ground when the solenoid activates.  If not, the board is likely bad.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:In case anybody runs into this in the future, it was the idle selenoid. Thanks for the help guys.
