i recently bought an sa200 but the guy had the battery hooked up to the truck battery (he had the machine on the back of the truck)i want to be able to load, off load the machine onto a trailer, then a skid and all the while having the machine working.. so....does anyone know what type of battery i will need to buy for this machine? and is it very tricky to hook up?and i believe its a 1940s machineim going to research more now but thanks for any informationgreatly appreciatedLast edited by then3wguy; 09-10-2012 at 07:51 AM.
Reply:Going to need a little more info or a couple of photos. Early 1940's had no battery box and later 1940's have a place for the battery. Which do you have? Thanks,HoboLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.

Reply:For that time period there could be two different options. The red machine is a 1944 and the black machine is a 1952. It is "challenging" to install a battery in the 1944 style machine. With the later style it's just a matter of taking some measurements and getting a proper fit in the battery box.The majority of the early models I've seen have a battery box fabricated and installed longways with the frame near the starter. A very "slim" battery is used in order to keep the overall width of the machine down. The next option is to cut a panel out of the front of the radiator support and install the battery in the same location as the later models. It just depends on how original you want to keep the machine. Thanks,Hobo Attached ImagesLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. Reply:You have the same model as the black machine in my lower photo. The factory location to mount the battery is below the radiator. You will need to measure the length, width and height of the battery box to determine what size will fit. Verify which side your positive connection is on also. You will want to purchase a battery that fits the opening as well as having the connectors facing toward the mechanic when he installs it. Don't install it with the connecting lugs towards the crank shaft pulley. The battery cables will ground out against the crankshaft pulley. Thanks,HoboLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20.
