I run a company that builds utility and equipment trailers. Currently we only build with steel however I'm about to also add aluminum trailers to the mix. I do have a Miller 252 that I know is capable of running a push/pull but I don't know how well it would perform as compared to a pulsed gun and I know atleast the 350P has a feature to eliminate cold starts on aluminum. The lightest material we use is .125 and the heaviest is .3125, mostly tube if that matters.I'm basically looking for some real world experienced opinions as to which machine would best suit our needs. We have no intentions of doing anything but mig aluminum with it. All thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Reply:Miller 250P with aluma pro gun is not a bad system. The Lincoln 350MP and a python gun also not a bad system. But In Lincoln you might want to look at one of the powerwave welders, either the C series (welder and feeder in one cabinet)Or a powerwave welder and a 25M feeder with python gun.Your best bet is to get a demo on some of these machines. The Lincoln system using pulse on pulse welding program Has become the standard to weld to. It is replacing TIG in some applications.

Reply:Well I had decided on the MM 350p with the Alumapro, however I came across a Miller Invision 352 MPA Plus with the D-74 MPA Plus dual feeder that I couldn't pass up. The machine was new in February and seen little use, looks like new. Came with 2 bernard guns (one is new in the box) and a 25' Aluma Pro Xr that looks like new. Got it for 7K. The MM350P was going to be 6K, and this is like getting 2 welders in one (well that's how I justified it to myself). Now it's time to turn this thing into a cash printer. Attached Images |
