Hey guys, I had a toolbox slide into the front of my Lincoln Weldpack 120v Welder and it smashed up the switches on the front (Hi-Low, 1-2, and Power). Can I just pop the sucker apart and replace the switches or should I send to an authorized repair center?'71 Basterd Scout 2Intake manifold with NHRA markings....go figureNovice welder with enough schooling to be dangerous.David H. Reply:If you feel comfortable with the idea of working on it yourself I'd have to say that's the way to go.If you like to spend a lot of extra money then take it to the repair center. The parts thru Lincoln will cost enough as it is.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I see you have one of Lincoln's welders that was made in Poland.Easy to repair. find the code number and use it to get the right parts from your favorite supplier. Make sure your unplugged. pull the cover and replace the switches. One switch at a time and mark the wires so you do not mix them up.The liner may be damaged in the miggun and will will need to be replaced. No fun to get the welder fixed then have it not feed right and the wire burnt back to the tip.Changing the liner is a little tricky on those guns. one end is clamped to the drive.
Reply:Thanks for the help guys, once payday rolls around again I'll be picking up the new switches and give it try myself.'71 Basterd Scout 2Intake manifold with NHRA markings....go figureNovice welder with enough schooling to be dangerous.David H. Petraeus for President 2012 |
