Hey folks, I am a total novice on these welders. I got an old one from my brother-in law for free. Had to clean, JB weld and internally coat fuel tank, unstick throttle plate, and clean carb. Got maching running and welding, but after about 10 mins. of welding the engine starts hitting on about every third stroke. Can't seem to figure out the wiring diagram to see what is causing this, or if this is an engine issue. (downloaded from Lincol website with parts list) Engine seems to run fine until you weld for a while. I don't have the serial number handy at this time but I can get if needed. Any help would be appreciated very much.Lincoln Weldan Power with Kohler 241 engine.

Reply:Thanks Bluesman. Have a new sparkplug in it. Will try carb kit. I also, after a little more thought, am a little suspicious of the points, that they may heatup and the start sticking. Not sure of the points would cause the hitting on every third stroke, but maybe a possibility. Thanks again. |
