Thanks for looking....I have been using a miller 225 for 20 yearsI bought a Lincoln 250 tombstone a month ago.. it welds perfectly and looks great...it's the same unit I used in highscholl back in the 70'sThe problem is.. the indicator arrow and track? is gone...The seller said each full turn is equal to about 13 amp's ...I would like to fix it if possible so it has the indicator like it was when it was made....In the mean time, I don't know for sure which way you turn to increase amperage.. I am assuming clockwise.. but you know what assuming gets you Any body got any input? ThanksWolfowner
Reply:Start welding with you`ll figure out what direction you need to turn it. I`m thinking its counterclockwise to increase amperage. One of my past idealarcs was missing the indicator. I tore it down and used a piece of 1/8" filler rod to make a new indicator.

Reply:I got mine home Tuesday. It's missing the plate and the pointer. The plate is available here:http://www.decalshoppe.com/lincoln_w...ducts?start=30It's living in the pickup truck until room inside becomes available.

Reply:New pointer and arm are available from lincoln. You may have to remove the front panel and square up the pin it pivots on. when the arm gets bent so does the pivot pin.To remove the front panel all you have to do is unbolt the power switch and the polarity switch, remove the conductors to the output terminals and the label around the polarity switch handle. remove crank handle, remove the screws at the bottom. swing the front off and slide with the polarity switch handle. gently straighten the pin and install the new arm and pointer.put grease on every part that slides and moves. test arm and make sure it moves freely.reverse you steps and put the front panel back on. Make sure the arm engages the pin on the gear. |
