And a welding trailer...Picked this up for a 500 dollah bill. The welder is an old Hobart. She has a Wisconsin motor. Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:My problem is that I need a service manual for both. Any idea where they can be found? The Magneto has been removed (not by me)and I have no clue how to adjust/test it and weather or not it's complete. I know it's missing the rotor, but that's it. Tonight I got her off the trailer and on a stand. Cleaned the plugs (they looked great) and changed the oil. someone drained it already, but what was left was black as the ace of spades. I'll replace the fuel line, clean the trashy tank and carb in the next couple days. Maybe I'll get lucky and Tractor Supply will have a carb kit for it.Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:You should be able to get the manual from the Hobart website, if you have the model and serial number for it when you go to look it up. You got a pretty good bit of stuff for $500. What all else is on the trailer? I see a pneumatic grease gun on there too. Do you know if any of this works as is?
Reply:Hey Bistineau! Not yet. I just transferred projects from cutting metal for my shop to this...... Random crap in the toolbox. Drill, saw, coveralls, Crap hood, extension cord etc.Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:No love on the Hobart site. Come to think of it, I was looking for a manual for an old Beta Mig a while back and couldn't find it either. Must not have the antique manuals. Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:Is thst a G-213? With the TJD engine I think? If it is I've got the Hobart manual for it, pm me an email address and I'll send it. I've got engine manuals somewhere too. I just gave one of those to a buddy for Christmas. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk1980 Lincoln SA-250.1521976 Lincoln R3S-6001978 Hobart G-213Hobart Titan 8TA Hefty 2Thermal Arc 211iCutmaster 42
Reply:PM sent.Yep. I have another one that works great except for the battery charger. I work at a Fire Protection outfit so a 24VDC charger out of a fire alarm panel did the trick. I found a bunch of engine manuals, now I'm short the welder manual and wiring diagram. Hope fully it's in the manual. Thanks for the help Man, I really do appreciate it.Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:If you don't get a manual PM me I have one as well. I also have a printed copy of the engine manual, quite lengthy, can't remember where I got it but I did not buy it, I got it off the net. Reply:Got a list of parts to order today, but I feel they're raping me points and a condenser. Aren't these just like the old school ones out of a car or truck? almost 35.00 for the two.Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:you got a pretty good deal there. Hopefully you can get the hobart back in action and put it to use!- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Yeah, me to. It's been sittin around the house for a few months now. Finally got the welder pulled off Friday. Starting with the motor first. Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:My G-213 has been a sweetheart to me through the years. If it will crank or roll over, it will start and weld. Don't really matter how damp or cold, it's always been dependable.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:The Carb looked ok. I blew out the passages and confirmed nothing was plugged up. New lines fuel pump and cleaned out the gas tank as best I could. If the tank gives me problems, I'll replace it.Now on to the Magneto.........Holy shivit! It was removed upon arrival. opened her to find that the rotor and points were missing (Thinking to myself Uh Oh!). Looking around, I notice that all the screw holes are stripped out as well as the raised "tower" part the points swivel on was busted almost completely off.......Great! So I try finding instructions on the specific Mag I have. No dice. Some close, but not exact. So I said to myself Screw it, I must be over complicating it. I tore into it to see how far the previous guy had gone and quickly found out that I really need instructions after hearing the clunk/snap of spring loaded gear. Farther investigation reviled that not only was the gear spring loaded, but is timed as well. I think I can salvage it as I can only be 180* out on the gear.I filled the stripped holes and rebuilt the "tower" thingy with JB Weld Wednesday night. Tomorrow I'll drill and tap to the original 6 and 8/32nd threads. I ordered points and condenser along with some other bits to get me started. Anybody know any Mag tricks or tips???Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride.
Reply:I can't really help you with your machine, but there is a way to tell if your magneto's coil is functioning. I have a magneto on my bike and couldn't figure out why there was no spark and I thought I might have a dead coil on my hands. Coil will be nesstled in the bottom of the magneto and is easy to test by removing magneto from engine, place in a vise and attach to a drill, spin. Find a good ground for the spark to go and stay away. If you become the ground you WILL notice, so try and avoid that (ask me how I know how it feels...better yet, don't!). If all is good then you're golden, move on to the next step checking condenser and wires. Best spark plug wires for a magneto are non-suppressor wires, as suppressor wires will tend to choke the charge, at least on my kick start, no battery bike. If the coil is dead go to flea bay, I have successfully found a coil for my ancient at a really good price and I'm sure that you'll have no trouble finding one at a good price with quick shippingWhen a welder tells you to "stick it", what do they really mean?"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell
Reply:The magneto spring works only during cranking to provide a hotter spark.Mag parts are very high priced. The coils do go bad from shorted turns. You can get into trouble tearing into it or playing around.Previous owner proved that.Try Gas Engine magazine for a mag instruction manual.
Reply:Thanks Farmer, I'll do that. Now I lay me down to sleep, by the bed a Colt I do keep.Should I wake and find you inside, a coroner van is your next ride. |
