i have a lincoln square wave 255. panel goes up to 316 amps. right now i have a water cooled wp-18 water cooled torch, and a wp-20 air cooled torch that came with it. I dont really like the 18, as its bug and bulky. im used to using a wp-20 water cooled at work on our syncrowave 350 lx. ive set the lx on 300 amps/ac and used the 20. now on thicker stuff i break out the larger torch at work when needed, rarely. ill prob sell the wp-18, and the air cooled torch to buy a smaller bidies water cooled torch.question is i want a smaller torch than the 18. is the 20 ok for my lincoln sw 255? if not what torch can i get for it that has a small body like the wp-20? thanks a lot Joe
Reply:the 20 is a water cooled torch, the wp9 is the aircooled version of a wp20 (same consumables) most wp20' are rated for 250 amps or less. then u go to the wp18 which has a 350amp rating on average. however lots of people run the torches above that. If you are not maxing out your machine constantly I would think a WP 20 is fine for your machineTiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:I agree with southpaw, yet I also know you will be worried about the power cable. Buy a CK fuse block and run your torch through it. It will protect your power cable and if it blows the replacement fuses are about 2.50.http://www.ckworldwide.com/fuse_block.htm
Reply:ok, the wp-20. now how hard is it to install the fuse? seems easy, looks like it may be a pain....lemme know. thanks, Joe
Reply:The fuse has screws at both ends and only fits one way, Easier than removing your cable cover and replacing your power cable. |
