I have a Weldanpower 225 Ac/DC code 8927 that has zero power from either the 115 volt receptacles or the 220 volt receptacles and zero power at the welding leads. Also the amp meter reads zero. any wireing diagrams and any advice on troubleshooting this problem would be greatly appreciated. I have owned the machine for almost 25 years and loaned it to a neighbor who kept it for 5 years and when i got it back I had to do a valve job on the Briggs engine to get it to run and now the welder doesn't work. I've been told that it is usually a bad diode on the board  but i don't know how to tell a diode from a transistor so maybe i just need to buy a copy of 'Welder Repair for Dummies" LOL...  I called the Lincoln tech line but spent more time on hold than i did getting to talk to the tech rep.. Thanks for any help..

Reply:Well here's the general manual for the unit:http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...t.aspx?p=31902And here's the specific wiring diagram for it:M14240_728200990938 AM.pdfCheck for a blown flashing fuse (8A slo-blow - lower center of wiring diagram) and if it has been sitting idle for the five years, clean the rotor slip rings and Fine Current Control rheostat winds with some fine (320grit) sandpaper.  If all that doesn't do it then you'll have to dig a little deeper. The two boards are for auto idler control and battery charging but if the main alternator isn't putting out due to one of the above there's no need to be looking at either board just yet.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Thanks duaneb55. I'll do as suggested and then get back to the board with results.
Reply:Hey;Next time, don't lend it to the neighbor! LOL Just kidding.
Reply:As Duane pointed out, its most likely something has either stuck or corroded from disuse rather than something burning out. When a machine like the Weldanpower sits for long spells, anything copper will get a layer of corrosion or as in the tension springs at the brushes, they  tend to rust causing the brushes to stop making contact against the slip rings, or even a simple wire connection can become corroded and defeat the whole output posses!Best to always check the simplest and most obvious places first before assuming the worst!#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
