I was welding away in the garage yesterday, and it just stopped feeding the wire. I hear the switch clicking away in the machine. I took the cover off and there is small black box fastened to the back of the face plate with a small yellow switch going back and forth when i press the trigger. But no wire feeding? Any thoughts that i can fix myself? Thanks Ken
Reply:Have you tried releasing the idler roll and seeing if the drive roll spins with no tension on it when you pull the trigger? If that works, latch the idler roll back down, take the tip off the gun and test again.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:yes i released the idler roll and nothing. I also tugged on the wire and its also free, so it does not appear to be "stuck" somewhere.
Reply:Probly a problem with the motor control circuit or the motor itself.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:That is what i was thinking/scared of. I bought a Lincoln to hopefully avoid stupid issues like this....
Reply:If it's still under warranty, just take it to any Lincoln authorized repair center and they'll figure out what's wrong with it and let you know if it's covered by the warranty.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I doubt that it is under warrantee. Its 4'ish yrs old. But there is a good weldshop that i get all my supplies from that i will have to take it to again.
Reply:It is most likely The black box has burnt a contact. It is a multi pole contactor.Turns the welder output on and the wire feed. You might be able to take it apart. clean it up and assemble it. The serial number does start with a P on that welder if I am thinking of the right welder.I have replaced a few that jammed up do to a piece of plastic in the wrong place.
Reply:here is a link to the welder.http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0580000P?mv=rrccawgc. Thanks for the info! I will check it out asap. |
