It runs flawlessly however when you strike an arc it bogs down not up like it is supposed to, ive looked over everything and it all seems to be in place, could it be something with the r-57.  It is an 1958 model and still had the r-57 no mods done to this machine at all, it just started doing this this past weekend and im just not getting back out there to mess with it any ideas it was just working fine not even a week ago
Reply:could be  the fuel filter
Reply:it boggs down and stays down while welding, ive never had this problem and am researching it as we speak seems im the only one lol
Reply:If the R-57 idler isn't "releasing" the throttle when an arc is struck, then the idler "float valve" (yes, that's what it's called) may be stuck and not opening when the idler solenoid plunger pulls in to open the valve,OR the idler solenoid coil failed and isn't pulling the plunger in.OR one of the leads to/from the idler is broken of has a bad connection.OR . . . ??MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:im probably going to get a chance to look at it this weekend, the r57 was supposdly working great atleast thats what the guy that sold it to me said :+(   thanks duane ima start calling you the "john wayne" of these welding machines
Reply:If it looks like its the R-57 and you want/need to tear into it, you should review the information in here http://content.lincolnelectric.com//...r/im/IM179.pdf on it first.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Something simple to check, and a place to start is the felt under the petcock, #(11) in the IM--179-G.1.A piece of any cigarette filter cut to size will work here if the felt needs replacing. Also could actually be causing what your describing. Cleaning the electrical connections, checking to see if the actuating rods are binding. Could be a vacuum leak. Other than this, I think you'll be looking at a new solenoid, diaphram etc.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
