I know it's mostly zinc, but I was wondering if it were at all possible, and how strong the joint would be afterwards? I have a Tweco Fabricator 181i, so I can do TIG if I can get some argon, right now I can only do flux core or stick as I don't have any gas bottles even though my machine is multi-process. I don't know how to solder so that sort of rules it out as I don't want to practice on something I am trying to fix for someone. Any thoughts? It's a hook type of thing that you mount to your wall by the way, so the hook is a rod that's in the shape of a fishing hook, and the rod is around 3/16" diameter. The pot metal broke right on it, so I was going to try and tack it back together. Maybe some epoxy would be better.Tweco Fabricator 181i"Always remember to be unique. Just like everyone else."
Reply:I've seen this: http://muggyweld.com/alloy-1But it looks to be for low temp stuff like soldering.Tweco Fabricator 181i"Always remember to be unique. Just like everyone else."
Reply:Zinc can be soft soldered.
