First off I am not any type of electrician.  I do have some common sense on it though.  I have an old Onan driven Lincoln and am trying to finish what I would consider a restoration.  The only down side the unit is it is 50 hertz.  My question is there any reasonable task to changing it for 60 or 50/60 or should I leave well enough alone?                                                                       FRITZmarine welding/fabrication: anodized aluminumornamental iron workMiller 350 syncrowaveMiller 200 dx DynastyMiller Passport plusLincoln 225 Onan: old iron motor
Reply:I THINK its 50 hz because the motor doesn't turn 3600 RPM.I think that is why they changed to the CCK onan.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:You have a CCK Onan engine with a cast iron block and rods. At 3600 rpm, one of the rods will come through the side of the block and 3600 is necessary for 60 Hz. Cannot get there from here. Just stay away from induction motors and you will be fine. weldersales

Reply:Thanks guys, I love to weld with it. Reply:Hi to get 60 hertz rpm would need to be at 3700 rpm with no load on engine but as soon as you put a load on the welder your rpm will go under 3600 rpm. A full 20 amp load can get your rpm down to 3400 rpm
